Job Description – ETL Test Engineer (Data migration)
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced ETL Test Engineer with strong expertise in ETL testing, data migration validation, and advanced SQL. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience validating data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, and working closely with cross‑functional teams throughout the data lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
ETL & Data Pipeline Testing
Design, execute, and maintain ETL test cases, test scenarios, and data validation frameworks.
Perform end‑to‑end testing of data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Validate data flow across various layers (source → staging → warehouse → reporting).
Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing for data-related components.
Data Migration Testing
Validate data migration strategies, mapping sheets, and migration rules.
Perform data completeness, data accuracy, and data consistency checks across legacy & target systems.
Identify data mismatches, log defects, and drive root‑cause analysis with developers and DB teams.
SQL & Database Validation
Write and execute complex SQL queries for data profiling, reconciliation, and deep‑dive validation.
Perform joins, subqueries, aggregations, window functions, and performance checks.
Analyze large datasets and ensure correctness, integrity, and compliance.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
Create and maintain test plans, test strategy, and defect reports.
Use test management tools like JIRA, ALM, Azure Dev Ops or similar.
Collaborate with ETL developers, data engineers, PMs, and business teams to ensure defect‑free releases.
Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of experience in ETL/DWH testing.
Strong hands‑on experience in ETL tools (Informatica, Data Stage, SSIS, Talend, or equivalent).
Solid experience in data migration testing across enterprise environments.
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, Snowflake, etc.).
Experience working with large datasets and enterprise data warehouses.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
