Duties & Responsibilities:

Cloud Platform Operations & Reliability:
Support, operate, and maintain cloud native and hybrid services hosted on Microsoft Azure and on-premises systems.
Ensure high availability, resiliency, scalability, and performance across production and non-production environments.
Perform routine operational activities including patching, upgrades, configuration changes, and lifecycle management of cloud resources.
Provide operational support for business-critical platforms with a focus on uptime, stability, and service restoration.

Compute, Storage & Networking Management:
Work closely with the admin team to Manage and administer virtual machines, managed disks, storage accounts, and backup services.
Configure and maintain cloud networking components, including VNets, subnets, routing, load balancers, NSGs, and connectivity to on-prem environments.
Support capacity planning and scaling activities to meet workload demands.

Containerized & Cloud Native Platforms:
Operate and troubleshoot containerized applications running on managed Kubernetes platforms.
Support deployment activities, scaling, upgrades, and incident resolution for containerized workloads.
Assist with operational support of cloud native application architectures.

Event Driven, Integration & Data Platforms:
Provide operational support for event driven and integration heavy systems, including:
Asynchronous messaging platforms.
API based integrations.
Cloud storage components.
Support cloud-based data platforms and data pipelines, including execution monitoring, failure investigation, and issue resolution.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure operational stability of pipelines and workloads.

Identity, Access Management & Security:
Configure, manage, and enforce Identity and Access Management (IAM) using Azure Active Directory and Azure RBAC.
Ensure access adheres to the principle of least privilege for users, service principals, managed identities, and applications.
Provision, modify, and decommission access in accordance with security and compliance standards.

Partner with Security and Compliance teams to support:
Access reviews.
Audit requests.
Policy enforcement and remediation.
Ensure cloud services comply with enterprise security, governance, and compliance requirements, including secrets handling.

Monitoring, Alerting & Incident Response:
Monitor platform and application health using logging, alerting, and observability tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
Respond to alerts and incidents, performing initial triage, mitigation, and escalation as required.
Participate in incident response, service restoration, and communication activities.
Conduct and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Backup, Recovery & Resiliency:
Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies for compute, data, and platform services.
Validate backup success and support restore testing and disaster recovery exercises.
Contribute to platform resiliency initiatives including redundancy, failover, and recovery planning.

Cost Management & Optimization:
Monitor cloud resource consumption and identify underutilized, misconfigured, or orphaned resources.
Support cost optimization initiatives, including budget configuration, alerts, and spend analysis.
Partner with engineering and platform teams to balance cost efficiency with performance and reliability.

Automation, CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code:
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation initiatives.
Support and operate environments provisioned via Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Cross Team Engagement:
Work closely with:
Software Engineering.
Data Engineering.
Database Administrators.
Architecture.
Security.
Platform and Operations teams.
Support development efforts, production releases, incidents, and platform changes.
Act as an operational partner throughout the development and release lifecycle.
