Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the technology strategy aligned with business objectives across banking and financial services
Report to the C-suite and Board on technology roadmap, investments, and risk management
Drive digital transformation initiatives including cloud migration, API-first architecture, and AI/ML integration
Partner with business leaders to translate financial domain requirements into technical solutions
Technology Oversight
Govern enterprise-scale Java/microservices architecture serving millions of transactions daily
Oversee modernization of legacy core banking systems to cloud-native platforms
Ensure API integrations for payments, lending, wealth management, and capital markets
Maintain technology standards for security, scalability, and performance
Team Leadership & Development
Lead 50+ engineers across multiple teams (backend, architecture, Dev Ops, QA)
Mentor senior developers and technical managers; build a strong talent pipeline
Establish engineering excellence culture with best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation
Foster cross-functional collaboration between technology, product, and business teams
Risk, Compliance & Security
Ensure regulatory compliance with RBI, PCI-DSS, SWIFT, and local banking regulations
Implement cybersecurity frameworks and audit-ready systems
Manage technology risk assessment and incident response protocols
Oversee data governance and privacy compliance
Business Acumen
Deep understanding of banking domains: capital markets, payments, lending, deposits, wealth management
Translate business needs into technical architecture and roadmaps
Evaluate technology vendors and make strategic procurement decisions
Drive cost optimization while maintaining technology quality
Required Qualifications
15+ years in technology with banking/financial services
10+ years of hands-on Java backend development experience
5+ years in director/VP-level leadership roles
Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB/PostgreSQL
Proven experience in core banking, payments, lending, or capital systems
AWS/GCP/Azure with cloud-native architecture experience
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering;
Master's (MBA/MS) preferred
Career Progression
Demonstrated track record:
Developer → Tech Lead → Manager → Director → Executive Director
