About the role:
The Data Platform Consultant (Microsoft Fabric & Databricks) will design, implement, and optimise modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks as the primary analytics and data engineering platforms. This role focuses on building scalable, governed Lakehouse-first architectures that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases, while integrating operational data and enabling near-real-time insight where required.
Responsibilities:
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse architecture, data pipelines, notebooks, semantic models, and Power BI integration
Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks including Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, and performance optimisation
Experience designing Bronze, Silver, and Gold data architectures
Experience with ingestion and orchestration using Fabric Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks Workflows
Familiarity with Azure Synapse Link for near-real-time analytics scenarios
Strong SQL and Python skills
Good understanding of data governance, security, and metadata-driven architectures
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with client stakeholders
Requirements:
Design and deliver Fabric- and Databricks-led data platforms
Build scalable Lakehouse architectures supporting BI and advanced analytics
Develop and optimise data pipelines and transformations
Integrate operational systems into analytics platforms
Apply best practices for performance, cost management, governance, and security
Support client enablement and knowledge sharing
Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure data services
