Data Engineer – Governance Engineer

Job Summary
The Data Governance Engineer will support the implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and policies across the organization. The role involves partnering with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technology teams to improve data quality, strengthen governance processes, and drive data strategy initiatives within the banking and financial services domain. The candidate should possess strong expertise in data governance tools, data management practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to the banking industry.
Required Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting & Finance, Data Management, or a related field.
- Experience
- 7–10 years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Management within the Banking and Financial Services industry.
- Experience working as a Data Steward, Data Governance Analyst, Data Governance Engineer, or similar role.
- Proven experience collaborating with business stakeholders on BAU data management processes.
- Experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks and data strategy initiatives.
- Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, and Data Quality concepts.
- Experience implementing Data Management and Data Quality policies and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Informatica Data Governance tools:
- Informatica Axon
- Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC)
- Data Engineering Quality (DEQ)
- Understanding of banking data processes, systems, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Skills
Technical Skills
- Expertise in Data Governance frameworks and operating models.
- Strong knowledge of Data Quality Management and Governance best practices.
- Experience implementing enterprise-wide data strategy roadmaps.
- Familiarity with regulatory data governance requirements within banking and financial services.
- Knowledge of metadata management, business glossary management, and data lineage concepts.
Functional Skills
- Strong understanding of banking operations, products, and data domains.
- Ability to align governance initiatives with business objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Experience driving data stewardship and governance adoption programs.
Soft Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
