The Diocese of Bangor is seeking an exceptional bilingual Executive Assistant to provide professional, proactive and highly confidential support to the Bishop of Bangor.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of one of Wales’ oldest and most significant dioceses, supporting the Bishop’s ministry, leadership and engagement across communities throughout North West Wales.

As the Bishop’s Executive Assistant, you will be a trusted partner, ensuring that the Bishop’s office operates efficiently and effectively. You will coordinate a complex programme of meetings, visits, services and events, manage correspondence and communications, prepare briefings and act as a key point of contact for clergy, staff, volunteers, community representatives and external stakeholders.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Bangor and requires a strong commitment to supporting the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales across the Diocese.

The Executive Assistant will work closely with the Bishop on all aspects of diocesan life, providing high-quality executive and administrative support in a fast-paced and varied environment.

The role requires excellent judgement, diplomacy and organisational skills, together with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

You will play a vital role in ensuring that the Bishop is well-prepared, informed and supported in carrying out episcopal ministry, leadership and governance responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Fluency in both Welsh and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Ability to draft professional correspondence and documentation in Welsh and English.
  • Confidence engaging with Welsh-speaking communities across the Diocese.
  • Commitment to providing an accessible and visible presence within the Bishop’s Office.
  • Good understanding of the communities, culture, heritage and linguistic context of North Wales.
  • Significant experience in a senior administrative, executive assistant, personal assistant or similar role.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the Diocese of Bangor and elsewhere within the Province of the Church in Wales.
