The National Library of Wales is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to grow audiences and local use of the Wales Broadcast Archive in ‘Clip Corners’ across north‑west Wales.
About Clip CornersClip Corners are located in public buildings and offer local access to the Wales Broadcast Archive – a vast collection of more than 544,000 television and radio items broadcast in Wales over the course of a century.
The Clip Corners enable communities to search, watch and listen to this material in their own time, discovering the stories that matter to them.
You will work with Clip Corners across North Wales, with a particular focus on those located in the following areas in the north‑west:
- Llanrwst Library
Your role will be to help local groups discover the value of the Broadcast Archive for them, building regular and confident use of the Clip Corners.
You will also help shape small freelance commissions based on what groups want to explore, and organise, deliver and support events and activities in the Clip Corners.
What you’ll do- Build relationships with established community groups, societies, and interest‑based networks across north‑west Wales.
- Introduce groups to the Clip Corners and support them to use the Broadcast Archive in enjoyable, accessible ways.
- Develop and deliver workshops and sessions tailored to local interests, such as heritage mornings, conversation groups, reminiscence sessions, local history exploration, or archive discovery workshops.
- Support and oversee small freelance commissions responding to themes the community identifies.
- Grow a consistent and engaged audience for each Clip Corner.
- Work with NLW colleagues on the planning and delivery of events and activities for each Clip Corner.
- Collect feedback, evaluate participation, and share learning.
- Experience working with community or cultural groups (e.g., hobby, heritage, historical or social groups).
- Confidence delivering workshops – whether digital, creative, discussion‑based or heritage‑led.
- A friendly, grounded facilitation style.
- Experience commissioning or supporting freelancers.
- Strong organisational and relationship‑building skills.
- Knowledge of Welsh social history, culture, and place‑based storytelling.
- Ability to manage your own schedule.
- The post involves regular travel; a full UK driving licence is required.
- Welsh language skills are desirable, but not essential. We recognise that people engage with Welsh in different ways and at different stages, and welcome applications from learners and non‑speakers alike.
