Your main supervisor will be Professor Davinia Fernández-Espejo. She is Professor of Neuropsychology and Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Birmingham in the School of Psychology. Her research focuses on understanding how acquired brain injury leads to deficits in consciousness and high order cognitive functions and develop mechanistically informed solutions for diagnosis, prognostication, and improving outcomes. You can read more about the lab here
Professor Fernández-Espejo has secured over £24 million in competitive research funding, published over 60 articles in outlets including The Lancet Neurology, JAMA Neurology, Human Brain Mapping, Science Advances, and her work has influenced clinical guidelines. She brings extensive experience in developing competitive proposals and mentoring early-career researchers.
Host InstitutionThe University of Birmingham is a founding member of the Russell Group and ranks among the top 100 universities globally.
