The Organisation:
We are partnering with a purpose-driven, not-for-profit SME insurance business that operates as part of a respected association with a rich history. Currently undergoing an exciting period of transformation and growth, this niche insurer is looking to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of an experienced Non-Executive Director (NED).

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an organisation that combines a strong heritage with ambitious plans for the future—delivering meaningful impact while upholding the highest standards of governance and stewardship.

The Role:
As a Non-Executive Director, you will provide independent oversight, strategic guidance, and robust governance as the business evolves. You will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the organisation, working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive, Board Members, and wider stakeholders across both the Insurance business and the Association.

This is an opportunity for an established NED, or an experienced insurance executive seeking to build a portfolio career, to join a values-driven organisation committed to making a difference.

  • A proven track record as a Non-Executive Director, or an experienced senior leader looking to build a portfolio within the insurance sector.
  • Qualified accountant status, with strong expertise in corporate governance, risk management, and financial stewardship.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to challenge constructively, guide leadership teams, and support decision-making through periods of change and growth.
  • Political sensitivity, with the ability to build high-level relationships and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional team-working and communication skills, fostering the right dynamic at Board level and ensuring productive collaboration.
  • Independence of judgement, offering intelligent questioning, constructive debate, and rigorous challenge while remaining supportive.
  • A deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, alongside the organisation’s vision and values.
  • Flexibility and pragmatism, with the ability to dedicate time and energy when required, ensuring full contribution to the Committee and Board activities.
  • Strong personal integrity and an unwavering commitment to openness, transparency, and maintaining high standards of corporate governance.

What will you get?

  • Be part of an organisation with a meaningful purpose and a positive societal impact.
  • Influence and guide a business through an exciting phase of transformation and sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with passionate, values-driven leaders in a supportive yet challenging environment.
  • An opportunity to enhance your NED portfolio within a respected, niche insurance business.
