Overview

The Directorate of Student and Academic Services brings together key professional services that support the student journey and enhance the academic experience at Bangor University. The Directorate comprises three main areas:
Registry, Student Life, and Campus Services. These services work closely with academic colleagues to provide a supportive, inclusive, and high‑quality environment where students can thrive.

Purpose of the Job

The Student Life Administration team supports services by acting as the first point of contact to students for Wellbeing, Inclusivity, and ELCOS. Responsibilities include processing appointment allocations, supporting logistical arrangements for courses and workshops, completing administrative tasks, and ensuring the inclusion of disabled students. This role also contributes to continuous improvement of services, recognising and responding to risk.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Duties
  • Provide bilingual first contact for staff and students, assessing student needs and responding appropriately.
  • Offer accurate information and advice via telephone, email, and in person.
  • Accurately input, maintain and update confidential records in databases such as Titanium, CRM, and the PLSP app.
  • Contribute to the production and distribution of Wellbeing & Inclusivity Service publicity.
  • Assist with groups, workshops and courses, including logistical arrangements and acting as co‑facilitator when needed.
  • Support a model of service that promotes student independence and resilience.
  • Provide administrative support for ELCOS and ensure service needs are met.
Common Duties across Grade 5 Roles
  • Provide high‑quality administrative support for day‑to‑day tasks.
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and schedules to support team objectives and student needs.
  • Offer front‑line support to students, staff, and external stakeholders, ensuring high‑standard customer service.
  • Assist in producing clear, accessible written communication materials, including emails.
Data Management
  • Collect, input and maintain accurate student records, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Compile, monitor, and report on data to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Assist in monitoring data accuracy and resolving inconsistencies.
  • Safeguard student information and other confidential materials.
Problem Solving
  • Address routine problems promptly.
  • Provide advice and guidance to students/staff in relation to established policy procedure.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive issues or potential risks to senior colleagues with timely follow‑up.
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Work closely with colleagues across teams and departments.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support implementation of new systems, processes or initiatives.
  • Contribute to university‑wide events, providing support at open days and graduation ceremonies.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders, addressing queries efficiently.
  • Liaise with other university departments and external bodies to facilitate seamless operations.

  • Provide administrative support for audits, reviews and compliance‑related activities.

Person Specification Essential Qualifications / Training
  • 2 AS Levels or 1 A Level or NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject area (e.g., Business Administration) or equivalent experience.
Desirable Qualifications / Training
  • ECDL Qualification.
  • NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject area.
