Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Main duties of the jobGreet patients and visitors to the surgery.
Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments in-line with practice appointments.
Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots and referred to GP where necessary.
Ensure computerised appointment system is up to date.
Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients.
Set up of new patients onto the computer system.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts.
Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.
Undertake administrative tasks as allocated and arranged by the Practice Management Team..
Check emails on a daily basis and check all electronic messages have been actioned.
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
About usBusy practice with 11500 patients. 9 GP's, 3 nurses and 2 HCA. Over 20 members of staff. Location is by the Bangor University.
Job responsibilities1) Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
2) Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
3) Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
4) Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
5) Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
6) Action repeat prescription requests, in line with Practice protocol.
7) Take action on clinicians requests for further information/patient contact information etc. (including computerised practice notes), ensuring completion of all associated paperwork.
8) Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
