We are seeking to appoint a permanent, part‑time (18.13 hours) Print Unit Assistant who will work as a member of the Print Unit team to support the efficient and timely delivery of printing and document services within the organisation. This includes operating and maintaining printing and copying equipment, preparing and processing print jobs to a high standard of accuracy and quality, and ensuring that all materials are produced in line with organisational requirements and deadlines.

The role also contributes to maintaining adequate supplies, supporting staff with print‑related queries, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the print unit.

Candidates should be educated to a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (incl. English and Maths) or NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area or with equivalent relevant experience. Experience of dealing with queries and providing information to internal and external stakeholders is essential, as well as an understanding of good customer care and quality service. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Overview

The Directorate of Student and Academic Services brings together key professional services that support the student journey and enhance the academic experience at Bangor University. The Directorate comprises three main areas:

  • Registry, which oversees student administration and business support, and leads on quality assurance, academic enhancement, and curriculum management.
  • Student Life, which encompasses a wide range of student-facing services including Wellbeing and Inclusivity, Library Collections, Residential Life, Student Success (covering Teaching, Learning and Language Support, Careers, and Student Advice), and the Student Experience team.
  • Campus Services, responsible for the University’s day‑to‑day operational environment, including Facilities, Catering, Sport, the Nursery, and the Security and Response Team. From August 2025, it will also include the Management and Development Centre.

Together, these services work in close partnership with academic colleagues and other professional service directorates to provide a supportive, inclusive and high‑quality environment in which students can thrive.

Purpose of the Job

Duties and Responsibilities
  • To work as part of a team and adapt to meet constantly changing priorities and deadlines and have the ability to become proficient in new technologies.
  • To operate high‑volume digital print equipment and be proficient in the operation of various print finishing equipment, maintaining consumables stock levels and online ordering when required.
  • To print and bind work (project work, dissertations, theses, etc.) for students/customers utilising a range of specialised equipment for both soft and hard cover binding.
  • Demonstrate good customer skills when liaising with staff and students and ensure strict confidentiality when producing sensitive documents.
