** What you’ll do
** As a
** Building Surveyor**, you will play a critical role in ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant, and maintained to the highest standard. Working within our
** Planned Investment team**, you’ll use your technical surveying expertise to assess buildings, diagnose issues, and support the timely and effective delivery of investment projects across our portfolio. From detailed inspections to project oversight, the Building Surveyor will help ensure our homes are high‑quality, sustainable, and fit for the future.
** How you’ll do it
*** Carry out detailed building inspections and surveys, identifying defects and root causes to inform accurate scopes of work.
* Recommend long‑term, cost‑effective solutions that improve safety, quality and sustainability across our homes.
* Provide technical advice on repairs, refurbishments, extensions and new‑build design, ensuring compliance with building regulations and safety standards.
* Oversee planned investment projects from inception to completion, managing budgets, timelines and quality delivery.
* Monitor contractor performance, carrying out site visits, snagging, de‑snagging and ensuring all required certifications are complete before handover.
* Build strong relationships with contractors, residents and internal teams, ensuring a positive customer experience throughout.
* Support planning applications, technical reviews and programme meetings with accurate, professional input.
* Resolve customer complaints relating to workmanship or incomplete works, ensuring effective communication and timely resolutions.

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.
** Essential:
*** Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
* Experience delivering refurbishment or construction projects, managing contractors, budgets and quality standards.
* Proven experience overseeing demolition and full new‑build construction, including mechanical and building services.
* Strong technical knowledge of building construction, building regulations, fire safety and energy efficiency.
* Proven ability to diagnose structural faults and building defects, producing clear technical reports and specifications.
* Confident communicator with strong customer‑focused skills and experience managing stakeholders.
* Proficient with surveying tools, software and industry‑standard methodologies.
* Membership or working towards membership of RICS, CIOB or another recognised professional body.

This role is subject to a Basic criminal record check (CRB) issued by the disclosure and barring service (DBS)
