OverviewCollege of Medicine and Health
The College of Medicine and Health is one of three colleges at Bangor University. The College, through the University, is formally linked to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board enabling an integrated approach to developing research, training, medical and healthcare education that serves the needs of North Wales and beyond.
School of Health SciencesThe School is the University’s main focus for education to support the health and care professional workforce and the sole provider for radiography undergraduate provision across North Wales. The Diagnostic Radiography programme is commissioned by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) and is situated across both Bangor and Wrexham campuses with placements across North Wales. An operational DR X-ray room is in place and desktop simulation VR software is installed in a newly refurbished computer laboratory onsite.
The School has an excellent research portfolio with research centres or clusters for health economics, primary care, evidence synthesis, improvement, service user perspectives, rehabilitation, and bilingual aspects of healthcare. We pay attention to demonstrating the links between our research and teaching activities, and in providing our students with excellent learning experiences that equip them with the ability to succeed in their professional careers.

The job will focus on being part of the team to deliver the diagnostic radiography programme. The post holder will be expected to engage with and undertake a range of academic, administrative and professional School roles, for example, personal tutor, module leader, dissertation supervisor. Partnership is a key theme within the job, the successful candidate will work in partnership with colleagues, students, service users and service providers across the NHS and other partners.
There will be other creative opportunities to support the School to contribute to prevent problems and improve the health and care for the people of North Wales and beyond.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
- Support students with proactive engagement in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
- Act as personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing advice, guidance and support.
- Contribute to the growth and improvement of the practice learning circuit capacity and quality.
- Actively engage in strategic and project-related activities that maximise student engagement, and that mitigate the risks of attrition.
- Undertake role of module coordinator and / or contribute to module co-ordination procedures (if module co-ordinator).
- Undertake other administrative duties and responsibilities (e.g. membership of School boards and task groups, addressing / supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student experience, contributing to community engagement).
