Location: Bangor
We are looking to recruit a Children and Young People's Skills Mentor to join the Pupil Referral Unit in Ceredigion on a full-time basis. This is an exciting role within the service providing the opportunity to work with young people from the community and improve their educational outcomes within a bespoke and person‑centred educational setting.
Responsibilities- create and coordinate educational and wellbeing support that meet the Additional Learning Needs of our pupils
- ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils who attend the unit
- provide high quality pastoral care by coordinating programs and interventions
- create an inclusive, comfortable and happy school environment to ensure improvements in learner engagement and wellbeing
- work as part of a team to ensure effective daily provision within the unit
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- excellent negotiation skills
- excellent behaviour management skills
- positive, inclusive attitude towards diversity
- ability to relate well to vulnerable/challenging pupils and young people
- ability to work independently or as part of a team
- to be innovative and creative in your approach to supporting vulnerable and challenging young people
- ability to be trustworthy and reliable, and to respect confidentiality
- ability to maintain a professional relationship whilst working with young people and external delivery partners
