This role involves being responsible for the retention and completion of a caseload of learners that have enrolled on Essential Skills Wales qualifications.

This role involves being responsible for the retention and completion of a caseload of learners that have enrolled on Essential Skills Wales qualifications.

The assessor is responsible for delivery of training, assessment and quality assurance of learners' work.

On a daily basis the role involves meeting with learners and employers within different workplace settings, sometimes remotely but with some travel expected, working independently ensuring compliance with qualification requirements. The assessor requires the skills to plan visits in a logical manner with due regard to restricting travelling, in order to make the best use of time as well as providing resources and support to meet the individual needs of each and every learner in the language of their choice.

The assessor will be representing the ESW team within Busnes@GLLM and will be expected to support learners from entry level to level 2 with Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. The assessor will ensure that the service provided to the learner is:

  • Of the highest possible quality
  • Providing value for money
  • Meeting the needs of the employer and the students under training

Holiday Entitlement
  • 28 days leave per annum, rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years' continuous service (01 September to 31 August).
  • All normally observed public holidays, determined annually.
  • Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
  • Part Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above.
