Role: Coke and Refinery (Technical Assessor)

Location: Remote, UK coverage

We are seeking a Technical Assessor with experience in manufacturing coke oven products.

Our external Technical Assessors are vital to the UKAS assessment process, providing essential expertise to deliver robust evaluations in Coke and Refinery sectors.

Becoming a UKAS technical assessor offers a unique opportunity for industry professionals to develop skills and advance their careers while maintaining their current roles.

• Manufacture of coke oven products, production of coke and semi-coke, pitch and pitch coke, oven gas, crude coal, lignite tars, and coke agglomeration.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for coke and refined petroleum products, including environmental considerations.
• Production of motor fuels such as gasoline and kerosene.
• Production of various fuels, including light, medium, and heavy fuel oils, and refinery gases like ethane, propane, and butane.
• Manufacture of oil-based products for petrochemical and road construction industries.
• Production of petroleum briquettes and biofuel blending.

On-site experience in:

• Carbonisation processes
• Distillation of tar from lignite
• Mineral oil production and safety standards
• Environmental legislation and impacts
• Coke production and by-products
• Crude coal and distillation processes

Candidates should have a degree in organic chemistry or extensive relevant experience.
