Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (Band
5) to join our acute male inpatient service supporting adults between 18–70 with acute, complex mental health needs. This role is part of a supportive multidisciplinary team that values compassion, openness and respect. You will contribute to structured ward routines, build therapeutic relationships and help ensure compassionate, patient‑centred care while supporting safe discharge back into the community. This is an excellent opportunity for both newly registered and experienced nurses looking to grow their skills.

- Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Maintain clear, accurate nursing records and communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues.
- Participate in ward routines, therapeutic engagement and community group activities.
- Administer medication safely in line with Health Board policies.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and contribute to maintaining a clean and safe ward environment.
- Use Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) only as a last resort and in accordance with training and policy.
- Work collaboratively with the MDT, contributing to reviews, care planning and safeguarding discussions.
- Support, supervise and guide healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners and students, depending on experience.
- Participate in service development, ward accreditation and effective use of resources.

Person SpecificationQualifications & Knowledge
- Essential: NMC registered Nurse (Mental Health)
- Desirable:
Evidence of post‑registration study and training
Experience
- Essential:
Pre‑registration evidence in direct nursing care; experience of providing holistic nursing care; interest in developing nursing skills. - Desirable:
Clear understanding of clinical governance framework; implement evidence‑based practice.
Skills & Attributes
- Essential:
Clear understanding of contract of care; ability to document details clearly and accurately; clear understanding of consent process; basic IT skills. - Desirable:
Knowledge of incident reporting policy; awareness of policies and incident reporting.
Personal/Disposition
- Essential:
Ability to communicate effectively; ability to work under pressure; satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance including Children's Barred List check. - Desirable:
Welsh speaker.
