An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Housekeeper to join the friendly and motivated team on Ffrancon Ward. This role supports the smooth running of the clinical environment and maintains high standards of patient care.
The post holder will undertake non‑clinical duties: ordering and managing ward stock, completing routine audits, and supporting compliance with ward standards. The Housekeeper works closely with the Nurse in Charge and Ward Manager to raise concerns, provide feedback, and contribute to a safe, clean, and well‑organised ward environment.
Required:
proactive, organised, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and IT skills. Ability to speak Welsh is desirable;
Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome.
- Welcome, receive and direct patients, relatives and visitors, liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
- Co‑ordinate non‑clinical aspects of the ward environment and manage visitors and relatives promptly and sensitively.
- Provide general information to patients and visitors; communicate clearly and professionally.
- Receive and relay messages, maintaining confidentiality.
- Handle minor concerns, escalating to senior staff when needed.
- Maintain compliance with food hygiene, infection prevention and control, waste segregation procedures.
- Support the Ward Manager with accreditation records and monitor mandatory training compliance.
- Assist in reviewing and implementing changes to local policies and procedures.
- Order, stock and monitor ward supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Promote a clean, safe and organised ward environment, supporting high standards of patient care and experience.
- Willing to work towards NVQ Level 3.
- NVQ Level 3.
- Competence at Band 3 level.
- Previous experience in a Housekeeper role.
- Understanding of hospital environment.
- Basic knowledge of patients’ and relatives’ needs.
This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary: £26,813 to £27,890 a year, pro‑rata.
