Bangor University is seeking to recruit a permanent, full-time Security Administrator to support the day-to-day operations of the University Security team.

Liaising with staff, student and visitors, the Security team ensures the safety of the campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through in person mobile patrols, remote monitoring and three staffed security lodges. With duties ranging from pastoral support of residential students to ensuring the safety of VIP guests, the Security team rely on digital systems and data to allocate resources and maximise on campus safety.

The role holder will support the administration of the Security team including preparing the shift patterns of the team, liaising with other departments to ensure all planned events have been risk assessed and resources allocated.

Candidates should be educated to 2 AS Levels or 1 A Level or NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience in a similar role. Proven experience dealing with data sets, using them to produce management reports and processing day-to-day business activities, such as payroll and rostering, is essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as posisble.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Overview

The Security service is a 24-hour onsite, in person service responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of operational security at Bangor University to ensure a safe, secure, and supportive environment for students, staff, visitors, and the University estate.

The Security team is assisted by a range of data and systems. The Security administrator will be responsible for monitoring and generating reports from those systems including access control, CCTV and key issuing, alongside departmental administrative activities such as the issue of PPE and uniform, payroll, rostering and day-to-day business including the preparation and collation of documents for audit.

Purpose of the Job
  • Preparing the daily/weekly/monthly shift pattern, including changes required for major University events, holiday cover and sickness.
  • Liaising with other University departments and services to ensure that all planned events have been risk assessed and resources allocated
  • Ensuring all daily events and incidents are accurately recorded on University systems (including ISAAR and DEMS
    360).
  • Interrogating University systems to identify patterns of access and unusual activity
  • Reporting issues and problems with data systems and devices.
  • Actioning responses to issues raised by operational staff during shifts or incidents.
  • Ensure staff and teams comply with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures as relevant to the Security role.
  • Ensuring daily/weekly/monthly checks are carried out and recorded.
  • Ensuring Security staff have completed both mandatory and supplementary training as directed by Bangor University or the Security Manager
Main Duties and Responsibilities Operations and Service Delivery
  • Co-ordinate the rota for the on-duty staff team who fulfil day-to-day security operations across the University estate, ensuring patrols, surveillance, and incident response are recorded efficiently.
  • Monitor the daily logs and ensure incidents are closed and any actions reported as necessary to allied services and departments.
  • Undertake any monthly payroll or similar administrative requirements, eg overtime payments
  • Support the Security team in any emergency response or serious incident management, and escalation in accordance with the University’s Major Emergency Plan.
  • Ensure regular checks are conducted on University spaces, doors and buildings, and process any issues arising from those checks.
Compliance and Standards
  • Generate reports to support the Security manager in ensuring that all staff have completed both mandatory and supplementary training.
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and administrative records, ensuring all reports are filed in a clear, auditable format.
  • Document and monitor Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure digital records are collated for both internal and external audits to support standard operating procedure and confirm completion of daily/weekly/monthly checks
Systems and Equipment
  • Act as the departmental administrator for the ISAAR system and produce summary reports of incidents on a periodic basis.
  • Co-ordinate any planned or reactive maintenance of all security-related equipment, including CCTV, body worn video equipment, radios, vehicles, and access control systems.
