Summary
Are you passionate and enthusiastic about creating meaningful opportunities for young people to connect with heritage and nature? We are looking for an experienced Community, Participation and Volunteer Manager with an excellent understanding of good practice in community engagement, with a particular focus on children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team in Northwest Wales and make a difference to people’s lives.
The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is essential for this role. Please complete the attached Welsh language competency assessment alongside your CV. Due to the nature of the role a full UK Driving Licence is required.
This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children, and any offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
What it’s like to work hereThe Gogledd Orllewin Cymru property group includes Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd, Plas yn Rhiw, Porth y Swnt and Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant. You will be part of a community, participation and volunteering team working across these properties. The team will be responsible for delivering community engagement and developing volunteering at all the properties and off‑site with our partners, with this role focused particularly on engaging children and young people.
You will report to the Senior Community, Participation and Volunteering Manager.
You will be based at one of the properties (to be discussed) with an expectation to travel across the property group.
Some weekend and evening work will be required.
What you’ll be doingAs the strategic lead at Gogledd Orllewin Cymru property group, for engaging children and young people you will use our spaces, resources and skills to deliver public benefit. Creating a framework and structure with the property teams to ensure children and young people’s voice and presence is embedded throughout, including increasing the team’s confidence in this area and that all safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
Opportunities may include volunteering, placements, educational visits along with co‑creation, working with partners and community organisations.
- Excellent communication, influencing and team‑working skills.
- Significant experience of working with children and young people.
- Proven experience of youth & community practice
- Significant experience of partnership working.
- Able to build effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the property group and nationally.
- Ability to think strategically, understanding broader internal and external contextual issues.
