Summary
:
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for coordinating the patient flow to obtain requested imaging studies in a fast paced environment under supervision of a certified Sonographer. This is achieved through order verification, Quality Assurance of the imaging equipment, proper patient identification and obtaining appropriate imaging following approved policies and protocols. This is to include proper patient preparation and education which may begin prior to the patient arrival.
The Ultrasound Technician may be involved in part of a procedural team. The Ultrasound Technician will treat patients of all age groups which includes infancy, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics. The Ultrasound Technician must be knowledgeable of age protocols. The Ultrasound Technician must be flexible to cover a variety of shifts with weekend, holiday and non-restricted call duties required as needed.

Treats all physicians and hospital personnel with respect and courtesy Remains flexible and willingly accepts changes in assignments and or scheduled hours. Strives to improve interdepartmental communications to facilitate total quality care of the patient. Participates in CQI activities, i.e., takes groups, audits, etc. Assumes supervisory responsibility as designated. Performs other work of the department as necessary. SERVICE Meets expectations with performance of "AIDET".
Acknowledge and introduce self to the patient or customer; educates the patient about the procedure explaining the duration and the reason for additional images without alarming the patient; thanks patients for using our services. Makes deliberate effort to meet the clinical requests of each physician. Minimizes patient delays. Is flexible when calling for inpatients to ensure exam room is ready upon arrival.

Determines that consent forms have been obtained when indicated. Is knowledgeable of the guidelines for care of all age groups of patients and age-related equipment.
