Provide organization and coordination to the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen program and property maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations and food service at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen, organizing volunteer groups for food preparation and service.
  • Coordinate with volunteer groups and Officers to develop and expand ministry opportunities.
  • Supervise cleaning and maintenance of the dining room, kitchen, and Salvation Army buildings and properties.
  • Order food and supplies for the soup kitchen and food pantry programs, ensuring proper stock levels.
  • Seek grant opportunities and provide monthly program statistics.
  • Refer clients to community resources as needed.
  • Coordinate with Officers and volunteers on homeless outreach and summer feeding ministries.
  • Represent The Salvation Army on community committees.
  • Manage vehicle fleet care and maintenance contracts.
  • Collaborate with contractors and service companies for projects and repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to supervise others.
  • Strong time management and statistical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Publisher, Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess client needs and make referrals.
  • Perform ministry service professionally and confidentially.
  • Up-to-date SERV Safe certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of KeepSAfe abuse risk management training.
