Job Title
Distribution Services Installer (DS Installer) – Supports Base Infrastructure Modification (BIM)
Responsibilities- Install OSP/ISP fiber optic and copper cabling
- Perform fiber optic terminations and testing
- Install network equipment in communication equipment locations
- Perform rack and stack operations
- Install cable pathways, conduits, and innerduct
- Conduct fiber optic testing (OTDR, light meter)
- Install structured cabling systems
- Perform electrical and grounding installations with licensed electrician
- Remove obsolete cabling infrastructure
- Label and document cable installations
- Follow AF Form 103, 332, 813 processes
- Implement asbestos/lead paint mitigation procedures
- Install wireless access points and mounting hardware
- Perform cable management and organization
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in cabling installation
- Proficiency in fiber optic installation and termination
- Experience with copper cabling (Cat6/Cat6a)
- Skilled in cable testing equipment operation
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA)
- Experience with ladder/lift operation safety
- Proficiency in hand and power tool use
- Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
- Must have an active Secret clearance
- OSP construction experience
- Knowledge of MIL-STD cabling standards
- BICSI certification
- Confined space operations experience
- Aerial/underground installation experience
- Flight line operations experience
- Fiber optic certification (FOA CFOT or equivalent)
