Job Title

Distribution Services Installer (DS Installer) – Supports Base Infrastructure Modification (BIM)

• Install OSP/ISP fiber optic and copper cabling
• Perform fiber optic terminations and testing
• Install network equipment in communication equipment locations
• Perform rack and stack operations
• Install cable pathways, conduits, and innerduct
• Conduct fiber optic testing (OTDR, light meter)
• Install structured cabling systems
• Perform electrical and grounding installations with licensed electrician
• Remove obsolete cabling infrastructure
• Label and document cable installations
• Follow AF Form 103, 332, 813 processes
• Implement asbestos/lead paint mitigation procedures
• Install wireless access points and mounting hardware
• Perform cable management and organization

• Three (3) years of relevant experience in cabling installation
• Proficiency in fiber optic installation and termination
• Experience with copper cabling (Cat6/Cat6a)
• Skilled in cable testing equipment operation
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA)
• Experience with ladder/lift operation safety
• Proficiency in hand and power tool use
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
• Must have an active Secret clearance

• OSP construction experience
• Knowledge of MIL-STD cabling standards
• BICSI certification
• Confined space operations experience
• Aerial/underground installation experience
• Flight line operations experience

• Fiber optic certification (FOA CFOT or equivalent)
