Job Title

Deli Clerk (Part‑Time)

Reports To

Deli Manager

Responsibilities
  • Provide helpful service – greet guests, answer questions, and address concerns professionally and with care.
  • Assist guests in locating items on or off the sales floor and answer the Deli Department telephone.
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
  • Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels in deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
  • Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
  • Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice for occasional absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Customer focus – ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Communication skills – good oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem‑solving – quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment while supporting team members.
  • Safety awareness – comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
  • Food knowledge – knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Full range of upper‑body motion.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
Schedule

Flexible work schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
