At  Brainware University , we believe that the responsibility of a university extends far beyond the boundaries of its campus.
Education must engage with society. Knowledge must respond to real social challenges. And students must learn not only from classrooms, but also from the communities they will eventually serve.

With this philosophy, Brainware University is establishing a new  Department of Social Welfare & Community Engagement  - an institutional platform that will bring together our social-outreach initiatives, community programmes,  NSS activities , social-development projects and university-community engagement under one umbrella.

In the future, the Department is also envisioned to develop appropriate  degree, diploma, certificate and skill-development programmes  in Social Welfare and allied areas, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.

We are now inviting committed academic professionals to become part of the  founding team of this Department .

Position

Faculty Member / Assistant Professor – Social Welfare & Community Engagement
This is not a classroom-only position.
The selected candidates will have a  dual responsibility:
Teaching + Social Action.
They will be expected to contribute to academics while also working directly with communities, institutions, students and stakeholders in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching, mentoring and academic engagement with students

• Supporting curriculum and academic programme development

• Planning and implementing social-welfare and community-development initiatives

• Working actively with  NSS  and student volunteers

• Conducting field visits, community interactions, surveys and need assessments

• Organising awareness, health, education, livelihood and social-development programmes

• Developing meaningful partnerships with NGOs, government bodies, healthcare organisations and community institutions

• Training and mobilising students for community engagement

• Documenting outcomes and preparing reports, case studies and impact assessments

• Contributing to research in social welfare, community development and social impact

• Helping develop sustainable models of  University–Community Engagement

Minimum Qualification
Candidates must fulfil the  applicable UGC eligibility requirements for appointment to the relevant academic position .

Candidates with postgraduate qualifications in areas such as  Social Work, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Development Studies, Community Development or other relevant/allied disciplines  may apply, subject to fulfilment of the applicable UGC norms.

Who Should Apply?
We are particularly interested in professionals who are equally comfortable  inside a classroom and within a community .
The ideal candidate should:

• Have a genuine commitment to social development and community engagement

• Be willing to work directly at the grassroots level

• Be able to motivate and lead students in field-based activities

• Be willing to travel for community and outreach programmes

• Be capable of taking projects from concept to implementation

• Combine academic understanding with practical execution

• Possess strong communication, coordination and documentation skills

Experience in  NGOs, NSS, CSR initiatives, community development, public-health outreach, rural development or social-impact projects  will be an added advantage.

We are not looking only for someone who can  teach Social Welfare .
We are looking for people who can  practise it .
People who can teach students, engage communities, build meaningful programmes and help transform academic knowledge into measurable social impact.

Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with qualification, experience and prevailing market standards.
