Collections Specialist - Eurofins Environment Testing - Barberton, OH
Position:
Collections Specialist. Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am‑3:30 pm (1st Shift). The role is primarily remote but candidates must be local to Barberton, OH and able to work onsite when required.
Pay: $20 /hr (base rate). Compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
Job DescriptionThe Collections Specialist is responsible for reviewing and managing the status of client accounts within an assigned portfolio. Key duties include contacting clients for payment of past‑due invoices, researching and resolving payment conflicts, collaborating with collections management and operations, and communicating account issues. The role requires maintaining accurate account notes, providing updates to management, and compiling reports that support decision‑making. Excellence in internal and external customer service is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain accounts within the assigned portfolio (large accounts).
- Contact clients via verbal and written communication for payment of past‑due invoices.
- Provide information and documentation to both internal and external clients.
- Collaborate with the Collections Manager and Operations representatives to resolve client issues.
- Maintain current and accurate account notes in collections software.
- Provide updates on accounts to Collections Manager, Operations, and Sales as needed.
- Work the daily follow‑up queue in collections software.
- Notify the Collections Manager of negative payment patterns.
- Facilitate and/or attend conference calls related to collections activity on client accounts.
- Resolve cash discrepancies on client accounts by researching payment applications in Oracle.
- Process credit card payments.
- Complete side projects/tasks assigned by the Collections Manager.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of Collections / Accounts Receivable or customer service experience.
- Computer proficiency.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
- Previous Collections experience.
- Experience in Accounts Receivable.
- Knowledge of the accounting process.
- Customer service experience (internal and external).
- Associate Degree or higher in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
- General business and accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency with accounting and collections software.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of collections policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Active listening skills.
- Negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Detail oriented and tactful in business‑related conversations.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
