Senior Design Stress Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc.

BWX Technologies, Barberton, OH location is looking for a Senior Design Stress Engineer to join the team! This individual will help lead and perform stress analyses of nuclear pressure vessels and other highly engineered products. The ideal candidate will be a detailed, oriented and contribute to innovative solutions. If you have a passion for problem‑solving and a strong engineering background, this great opportunity!

Position

Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform stress analyses of nuclear pressure vessels and other highly engineered products.
  • Utilize and conduct finite element analysis, custom post‑processing software, and closed‑form analytical techniques.
  • Perform and lead standard and advanced structural analysis methods including linear elastic sizing, fatigue, elastic‑plastic, fracture mechanics, shock and vibration, and thermal/mechanical.
  • Review and lead work for accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Work with members of other engineering disciplines (manufacturing, quality, welding, drafters, thermal‑fluids, etc.) in a team environment to generate component designs to meet code requirements and to optimize the design for manufacturability.
  • Work closely with on‑site manufacturing to resolve real‑time fabrication related issues.
  • Communicate effectively in internal and customer presentations and written technical reports.
  • Lead efforts to reduce cost and span of current components.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering.
  • 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience in the use of finite element analysis (FEA) software (preferably Abaqus or Ansys).
  • Experience in 3D CAD to manipulate design models for analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a technical field
  • Working Knowledge of ASME Code Section III and VIII or AISC.
  • Experience of computer programming codes (ex. C++, Fortran, Python, etc.)
  • Program management experience.
