Welder - 1st Shift

Compass Systems is seeking a Welder for our Barberton, Ohio location.

This position is primarily responsible for fitting ,welding, and cleaning weldments into finished parts by performing the following:

• Drive forklift to move parts into and out of work area.
• Must be able to safely rig and move parts with overhead crane.
• Read detailed blueprints and follow instructions.
• Being able to layout, fit, and weld metal parts to hit critical dimensions.
• Weld in all positions with mig, stick, and tig.
• Check you are using proper wire, gas, and machine settings on welder.
• Must be able to repair or modify existing or refurbished parts.
• Must be able to maintain and use oxygen/ acetylene torch and hand plasma cutter.
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Preheat workpiece with torch.
• Safely use and maintain hand tools (Grinders, air motors, porta-power, clamps, etc.)
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
• Show up on time and work scheduled hours.
• Must be able to take direction and work well with others.
• Other duties as assigned – work overtime when needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience.
• Must be comfortable welding 22ga – ¾” thick steel or stainless steel.
• Motivated individual possessing the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates positive safety attitude.
• Being able to identify problems and inform supervisor.
• Ability to stand for 9 or more hours and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
