Position: RN - FT - Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

RN – FT – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

Summa Health System – Barberton Campus

Full‑time, 36 hrs/week, shift 7 p‑7:30 a, alternating weekends/holidays.

Primary patient population: cardiac‑related issues and stroke patients. 34‑bed unit. Target nurse‑to‑patient ratio: 1:5 (subject to census).

Summary

Guided by nursing knowledge, the RN provides, coordinates, and delegates nursing care, manages resources to attain optimal health for patients and families.

Formal Education Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Associate’s degree accepted; must obtain BSN within 3 years
  • Accredited professional nursing program (CCNE or ACEN)
  • Current Ohio RN license
Experience and Training Required
  • PRN RN: at least one year recent experience in the area of practice
  • Weekend option positions: minimum one year related RN experience
  • Additional experience may be required for specialty units
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
  • Full body motion with handling and lifting patients; manual, finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours
  • Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, hazards common to clinical environment
  • Current Basic Life Support. New critical‑care nurses must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months; experienced nurses must have ACLS upon hire or within six weeks
Population Specific Competency
  • Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention)
  • Ability to interact with diverse patient populations respecting self‑respect, dignity, and diversity
Level of Physical Demands
  • Heavy: occasionally 50‑100 lb force, 25‑50 lb frequently, 10‑20 lb continuously to move objects
Salary

$33.75/hr – $53.00/hr (base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials). Salary determined by experience and location.
