Provides assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures including exposure, hemostasis, suturing, tying, tissue manipulation, closing wounds, and applying dressings. Collaborates with the surgical team, assumes responsibility for the care and safety of patients during surgical procedures, and facilitates communication between the surgeon, perioperative team, and other hospital departments.

  Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment.
• Graduate of a program of professional nursing accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
• Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio.
• Completion of an accredited program for First Assisting.
• Certified Nurse in the Operating Room (CNOR) through the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) is required.

• Completion of required clinical experience during education process.

• Possess manual dexterity for nursing/assisting skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Maintains current knowledge of nursing practices/procedures related to care of surgical patients.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to foster good working relationships with other departments and OR staff members, and to work closely with all members of the peri‑operative team, physicians, patients/families, etc. to assure optimal peri‑operative nursing care.
• Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity.

• Heavy:
  Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Occasional carrying, climbing of stairs, and exposure to dust, fumes or gas.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.

$49.37/hr – $59.25/hr the salary range posted is the base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials.
