$17.00/hr – $20.50/hr
Responsibilities Professional Duties- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policies.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operation.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience, including courtesy habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assists with prescription dispensing, entering patient drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for potential interactions.
- Reports prescription errors immediately to pharmacist on duty and follows company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adheres to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing activities.
- Registers sales, handles cash on assigned register, directs customers to OTC aisle when possible.
- Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including calls to physicians.
- Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and performs other clerical duties as assigned.
- Supports inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceutical shipments; manages warehouse claims for overages, shortages, or errors.
- Assists pharmacist in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples and coordinating care with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Builds relationships with local medical community through detailing, outreach, and participation in retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department and complies with all policies and procedures.
- Completes special assignments and tasks as assigned.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration; PTCB certification may be required for promotion to senior technician.
- Attend manager‑requested training, acquire continuing education credits, and stay current on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Approximately six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
