- JOB DESCRIPTION:
Directs Team Leaders and other Team Members in assigned manufacturing area(s) in the execution of the group’s responsibilities. Supports the manufacturing areas and maintains the overall Toyota Production System with a focus on minimizing down time, increasing productivity, and coordinating preventative maintenance activities. Manages group as an operational unit and is responsible to accomplish company goals and targets in accordance with all company policies, maintenance standards and methods, and standards for safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, housekeeping, efficiency, training, teamwork, and morale.
Job Functions General
- Function as a first‑line supervisor over team leaders and team members.
- Plan and coordinate hiring and placement of team members with Assistant Manager; monitor staffing, work hours, overtime, job rotation, and absenteeism.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all company rules, policies, and practices; take corrective action as warranted.
- Manage and appraise team member job performance and recommend corrective action.
- Develop and maintain positive team member relations based on trust, respect, fairness, and teamwork.
- Provide direction and motivation emphasizing safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, and morale.
- Lead and maintain maintenance and repair operations of assigned area, achieving department goals and schedules.
- Utilize Toyota Production System to standardize processes, reduce variation, identify and eliminate waste.
- Develop standardized work procedures and document maintenance sequences for equipment or tooling.
- Direct work of Team Leaders and Team Members by assigning and re‑assigning work based on production schedules.
- Apply Toyota Boshoku Business Practices to ensure effective, correct operations.
- Perform essential functions of team leaders or members as necessary.
- Develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs with production management.
- Monitor PM scheduling and evaluate breakdown effectiveness.
- Coordinate repair, maintenance, and installation activities to ensure continuous production.
- Manage machine uptime/downtime per departmental and company goals.
- Support maintenance and operations of facilities and utility systems.
- Obtain part quotations, submit purchase orders, and support spare parts inventory.
- Research and source replacement parts for obsolete equipment.
- Develop maintenance systems supporting annual plan targets.
- Monitor parts, materials, productivity, and quality; take corrective action.
- Partner with Manufacturing to investigate and contain issues.
- Act as technical resource, determining root cause and countermeasures.
- Troubleshoot daily safety, machine, equipment, and tooling issues.
- Proactively predict abnormalities and devise solutions.
- Analyze problems, coordinate repair, and maintain continuous evaluation.
- Participate in setting KPI targets.
- Maintain and update KPI boards and graphs; initiate improvement activities.
- Lead safety, productivity, and cost improvement projects.
- Implement team ideas and management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Lead 5S housekeeping, accident investigation, and safety audits.
- Maintain knowledge of hazardous waste, spill response, and plant security procedures.
- Monitor team health and safety.
- Orientate and oversee training; assign trainers.
- Maintain training matrix for leaders and members.
- Provide multi‑skill training for breakdown situations.
- Prepare department instruction manuals.
- Develop training plans, provide coaching, and cascade training.
- Prepare business reports and spreadsheets.
- Maintain specified records, logs, and files.
- Monitor attendance, training records, and administrative duties.
- Daily communication meetings to inform and encourage two‑way communication.
