Accounts Administrator
Location: Fully Office-Based
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 5 Days Per Week, Rota system on working times
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
The Opportunity
An established and growing business is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its busy office team. This is a varied role that combines finance, administration, and customer service responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and being an integral part of a close-knit team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business while ensuring excellent service is provided to customers and suppliers alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing both purchase and sales ledger activities.
- Processing supplier invoices and ensuring correct authorisation procedures are followed.
- Matching invoices to delivery notes and reconciling supplier statements.
- Preparing and processing supplier payments.
- Raising sales invoices and credit notes.
- Allocating customer payments and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Reconciling bank statements and investigating discrepancies.
- Sending customer statements and monitoring outstanding balances.
- Chasing overdue payments and managing credit control activities.
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of information required for VAT returns.
- Responding to customer and supplier queries via telephone and email.
- Inputting customer orders and job information accurately onto internal systems.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and supporting general office administration.
- Providing financial updates and reports to senior management where required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accounts Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of both purchase and sales ledger processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using Xero would be advantageous but is not essential.
