Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is
determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
Teach Now is seeking a reliable, proactive and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant / ARP Support Practitioner to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking & Dagenham. This is a full-time temporary role starting after Easter until the end of the summer term (July), with the possibility of starting during the final week of this term.
The role involves supporting pupils within an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP). The school is a large, nurturing and values-driven primary school that promotes British values, inclusion, pupil wellbeing and high achievement, creating a supportive environment where pupils develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience to succeed.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within the ARP, working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and ARP leads to help pupils make progress according to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition
• Support pupils with learning, communication, emotional regulation and social development
• Assist teachers with adapted learning activities and interventions
• Help maintain a structured, inclusive learning environment
• Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence and engagement in learning
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo and ARP staff
• Promote the school’s ethos of respect, equality and high expectations
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition in an ARP or specialist SEN setting
• Be able to work confidently and independently, showing initiative
• Be committed to inclusive education and pupil progress
• Be reliable, proactive and adaptable
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• Be willing to undertake a free trial day
