The Company
We are recruiting for an established manufacturing business with a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement. They invest in their people and support the development of their engineering team, apprentices and trainees. They are looking for a hands on engineer who can keep the site and its equipment running reliably and help drive improvements across the operation.
The Role
You will join the site operations team, taking responsibility for the maintenance of both the production equipment and the building, and making sure unplanned downtime stays as low as possible.
Key responsibilities include:
* Planning and carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site plant, managed through a CMMS.
* Fault finding and repairing electrical, control and mechanical systems quickly to limit disruption to production.
* Looking after the building and its services, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety systems.
* Sourcing and managing external contractors and specialist service providers.
* Keeping stock of spare parts and consumables so that critical items are always on hand.
* Writing risk assessments, putting emergency response plans in place and reporting maintenance metrics, including breakdown analysis and countermeasures.
* Leading and mentoring apprentices, technicians and support staff, and leading site improvement projects.
This is a varied, hands on role combining machine maintenance with responsibility for the site as a whole.
What We Are Looking For
* At least 5 years of maintenance or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, facilities or maintenance engineering
* Strong fault finding skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Good working knowledge of PLC systems and the ability to read electrical drawings
* A safe approach to work, with experience of risk assessments and safe systems of work
* Experience of planning maintenance and managing contractors and spares
* Confident communicator, comfortable using IT, able to influence others and to deliver on commitments
Desirable
Knowledge of ISO quality and environmental standards, an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification, and experience with ERP and CMMS systems.
This is a genuine opportunity with an established manufacturing business.
