About UsFounded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. DepartmentInformation
The Department of STEM offers courses in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics and Physics. We offer a BS in Biology as well as Associates of Science degree pathways.
ResponsibilitiesIntroductory to Biology (BIOL 1111K) and Introductory to Biology II (BIOL 1112K) for non‑science majors. Modality of instruction is online.
General topics in Introductory to Biology include cell structure and function, cell division, plant and animal energy pathways, genetics, and evolution.
General topics in Introduction to Biology II include diversity of viruses and bacteria, plant and animal classification, structure and function of major plant and animal systems and ecology. These courses include a laboratory component.
Required QualificationsMaster's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline (e.g. Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Physiology).
Preferred QualificationsPrior teaching experience at the collegiate level.
