Healthcare Administration, Medical Receptionist
We are looking to recruit a friendly, organised and motivated Receptionist / Administrator to join our team.
This is a varied role combining patient-facing reception duties with administrative support for the Practice Management Team. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice whilst providing excellent customer service to our patients
Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and friendly GP practice in a varied role that combines reception and administration duties. You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service both face-to-face and over the telephone, whilst also supporting the Practice Management Team with a range of administrative tasks.
The role includes managing patient enquiries, processing requests, maintaining accurate records, supporting practice projects, undertaking data entry, managing correspondence, assisting with audits and compliance activities, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, and is confident using computer systems. The successful candidate will work closely with both clinical and non-clinical staff and will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided

Job responsibilitiesReception Duties
- Greeting and assisting patients and visitors.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.
- Booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
- Processing patient requests and signposting where appropriate.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Maintaining confidentiality and accurate patient records.
Administrative Duties
- Updating patient demographics and records.
- Processing workflow and administrative tasks.
- Scanning, photocopying and document management.
- Maintaining electronic filing systems.
- Preparing meeting packs, agendas and taking minutes.
- Maintaining staff records, training records and compliance folders.
- Supporting audits, patient surveys and Friends & Family Test administration.
- Assisting with recruitment administration.
- Maintaining IT equipment inventories and logging support tickets.
- Supporting patient communication campaigns and general practice administration.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience working within General Practice.
- Experience using EMIS Web.
- Experience processing repeat prescriptions.
- Experience work flowing clinical correspondence.
