* Interim Assistant Company Secretary
* Housing Provider | Hybrid Pattern
* £250 - £325 per day | 4–5 days per week
* Inside of IR35 (We will support Umbrella Company set up)
* 2 days office attendance with 2 or 3 days from home
* Initial 3 month contract
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established governance team during a period of transition and provide essential support across a complex group structure involving multiple Boards and committees.
The immediate priority will be helping the organisation successfully deliver its September Board cycle.
The assignment is expected to continue through to at least the December cycle while the organisation develops and recruits its future permanent governance structure.
The role
Reporting directly to the Company Secretary, you will provide practical, hands-on company secretarial and governance support, including:
• Coordinating Board and committee meeting cycles
• Preparing agendas and collating high-quality Board packs
• Producing accurate and timely minutes
• Maintaining action trackers and following up agreed actions
• Completing Companies House and other statutory filings
• Maintaining corporate and governance records
• Supporting multiple Boards and committees across the group
• Providing wider governance administration wherever required
About you
We are looking for a reliable and proactive governance professional who can quickly understand the organisation, build effective working relationships and provide dependable support from the outset.
You will ideally offer:
• Strong Board and committee administration experience
• Excellent minute-taking and written communication skills
• Knowledge of statutory filings and company secretarial requirements
• Experience working within a group containing multiple entities, Boards or subsidiaries
• The ability to manage competing deadlines during busy meeting cycles
• A CGI qualification or equivalent governance training
• Previous interim or contract experience would be advantageous
Experience with in social housing would be helpful but is not essential. Applications are equally welcomed from candidates with relevant governance experience gained in another regulated, public-service or complex organisational setting.
Contract details
• Rate: £250 - £325 per day, depending on experience
• Working pattern:
Flexible between three and five days per week, with four days preferred
• Hybrid working:
Two days per week

Ideally during August 2026
• Duration:
Expected to cover the September and December Board cycles
• Occasional attendance at in-person Board meetings will be required
This assignment would suit an experienced Assistant Company Secretary, Governance Manager, Board Secretary or senior governance professional who enjoys delivering high-quality, hands-on secretariat support.
