Teaching Assistant – Autism Support

Schools Vision: This school is an academic, aspirational learning community, known and respected for its pioneering spirit, humanity, and excellent outcomes.

School Results: The school has a track record of outstanding academic results. In 2019 and the subsequent two years, half of GCSE grades were at 7 or higher, with a third of students achieving at least 8 GCSEs at grade 7 or better.

Staff Benefits: The school values potential as well as experience and is committed to supporting staff development. Several non-teaching staff have trained as teachers within the school; the rich CPD programme includes full induction for new teachers, including NQTs. Additional responsibilities are considered for suitable candidates, and NQTs may be offered employment during the last few weeks of the summer term.

Location & Community: The school is situated in a state-of-the-art £50m building overlooking the Green Belt. It is easily accessible via Northern, Piccadilly, and Overground rail links, with public buses passing the entrance. A school coach service is available to staff, serving the entire catchment area.

Curriculum:

Students in the Special Provision Unit, who can access the main school, will follow the National Curriculum with the goal of taking up to 5 GCSEs at the end of Y11. Passing at Grade 4 (or equivalent) allows access to sixth-form courses within the main school.

The curriculum is highly differentiated, focusing on developing social cognition through the SCERTS framework and Social Thinking curriculum. Most students will also follow ASDAN/CoPE courses, personal and social development, and employability and work-related learning curricula.
