Long Term Futures is recruiting a skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support the Reception team and work extensively within the SEND provision in a nurturing primary school in Barnet. This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in Early Years practice who enjoys supporting children with additional needs alongside whole-class engagement.

About the Role
You will split your time between assisting the Reception class teacher and providing targeted support in the SEND room, helping pupils access the curriculum, grow in confidence, and make strong progress. Your day-to-day will include:

Supporting whole class activities in Reception, encouraging participation, exploration, and early learning development.
Working in the SEND room with small groups and individuals who require additional curriculum support, communication strategies, or differentiated activities.
Using structured and sensory strategies to assist pupils with additional needs to engage and regulate.
Encouraging language development, early reading, number skills, and social interactions through purposeful play.
Maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive environment where all pupils feel secure and ready to learn.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Good understanding of Early Years practice with experience in Reception or EYFS settings.
Experience working with children with SEND, particularly within a SEND room or small group context.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
Patient, reflective, and proactive in responding to varying needs throughout the day.
A team player passionate about inclusive education and child centred practice.
