Our team works collaboratively to support students with a wide range of learning needs, promoting their independence, confidence, and well-being.
Job Purpose:
The SEN Teaching Assistant will support the teaching staff in delivering high-quality education and care to students with special educational needs. You will assist with classroom activities, provide one-to-one or small group support, and help implement personalised learning plans to meet individual student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with learning, communication, and behavioural needs in line with their individual education plans (IEPs).
Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting resources to meet diverse needs.
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
Monitor and record student progress and share observations with teaching staff.
Support students with personal care, as required.
Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining a safe, organised learning environment.
Participate in team meetings, training, and school activities as needed.
Qualifications and
Experience:
Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
Understanding of SEND strategies and educational support techniques.
Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, CACHE, or equivalent) are advantageous.
