An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a talented SEN Teacher to join a highly inclusive, Outstanding primary school in Barnet within their specialist Autism Resource Provision (ARP). The successful SEN Teacher will lead a small KS2 ARP class of 8 pupils with Autism, with some children also presenting with ADHD. Pupils are from Years 3–6 and benefit from a highly personalised curriculum, specialist interventions, and integrated mainstream opportunities where appropriate.

Primary SEN Teacher

The Role

As the SEN Teacher, you will take responsibility for delivering highly personalised learning to a class of 8 KS2 pupils with EHCPs. You will work closely with specialist support staff, therapists, families, and the wider school team to ensure every child receives the support they need to flourish.

The school is seeking a Primary SEN teacher who understands the importance of relationship-based practice, communication strategies, sensory regulation, and adapting learning to meet individual needs.

Primary SEN Teacher – Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
  • Creating a calm, structured, and autism-friendly learning environment
  • Supporting pupils’ communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Working collaboratively with support staff and external professionals
  • Building strong and positive relationships with families
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and life skills development
  • Supporting successful inclusion into mainstream learning where appropriate
Primary SEN Teacher – Person Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with Autism and associated needs
  • A strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practice
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • SEN specialism or additional SEND qualifications desirable but not essential
