Overview

Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing?

A specialist SEN unit in Barnet is currently recruiting a full-time Mental Health Worker to support children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs within a supportive and structured environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure, and help students feel safe, understood, and ready to engage with learning.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting students with SEMH and additional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Helping young people develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
  • Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support techniques
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or mental health needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive
  • Previous experience within schools, youth work, care, or support work is desirable

Employment Terms

This is a temporary position, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent at a later date. Pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
