About the RoleMount House School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 pastoral and academic support for a Year 7 student with EHCP needs. This rewarding role focuses on helping a student access the curriculum, build confidence and develop independence within a nurturing school environment.
You will support the student in lessons, reinforce learning, assist with homework and adapt strategies in line with EHCP guidance. Using the student’s interests, you will help foster engagement and motivation while promoting inclusion and social development.
You will work closely with teachers and parents to monitor progress and ensure consistent support, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
The role also includes contributing to the wider school community through behaviour support, events, and general classroom duties.

Safeguarding is central to this role. You will follow all school policies, maintain confidentiality, complete required training, and prioritise the wellbeing of every child.
Who We Are Looking For Qualifications- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) essential
- Experience working with secondary‑age students
- Experience supporting students with EHCPs and SEND
- Experience working with ADHD, autism, DCD, speech, language and communication informed approaches desirable
- Experience in either mainstream or specialist settings
- Good understanding of the GCSE curriculum
- Understanding of strategies to support students with ADHD, autism and DCD
- Ability to promote independent learning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Organised and able to manage administrative tasks effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive sense of humour
- A genuine passion for working with young people
