Graduate Opportunity | Secondary School | Full-Time

Principal Education are looking for an enthusiastic, empathetic and driven Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a secondary school from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or postgraduate who is considering a future career in teaching, psychology, therapy, education, pastoral support or a related field.

The school is looking for someone with the right attitude, personality and potential rather than extensive previous experience. You will have the opportunity to work closely with students across GCSE classes, supporting their academic progress, confidence and engagement with learning.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students across GCSE classes.
Support students with a range of learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with students.
Work alongside teachers to support students effectively within the classroom.
Help students develop their literacy, numeracy, confidence and independent learning skills.
Support bilingual and EAL students, developing an awareness of individual language profiles and adapting your approach to help students access learning.
Encourage students to engage positively with their education and develop greater independence.
Remain calm, patient and empathetic when supporting students who may require additional guidance.
Be flexible and willing to work across different subjects and GCSE classes.
Contribute positively to the wider school environment and work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

The Ideal Candidate

A recent graduate or postgraduate.
Strong in literacy and numeracy.
Enthusiastic, energetic and positive.
Empathetic, calm and approachable.
Confident building positive relationships with young people.
Flexible and happy to support across a range of GCSE subjects.
Comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds, including bilingual and EAL learners.
Able to adapt their communication and support strategies to meet individual student needs.
Passionate about helping young people succeed.
Considering a future career in teaching, psychology, therapy, education or a related profession.

Experience Not Essential

Previous experience working in a school is not essential.

The school is more interested in finding someone with the right personality, attitude and potential. If you are a graduate who is enthusiastic about working with young people and wants to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment, this could be an excellent opportunity.

The school is keen to meet suitable candidates, interview and arrange a trial as soon as possible, with the successful candidate starting in September.
