Connex Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Barnet, North London. This full-time, long-term role is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with complex medical and additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop greater independence.

The school provides education for pupils aged 4-19 in a highly supportive environment where individual needs are placed at the centre of learning. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and specialist support staff to help pupils engage with education while developing communication, confidence and independence. Some pupils may require additional educational support outside the school environment, including home-based learning.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pupils with classroom activities and educational tasks.
- Provide individualised support based on pupils’ specific needs.
- Encourage communication, social interaction and independence.
- Support sensory activities, practical learning and life skills development.
- Assist with mobility and personal care when required.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist staff.
- Provide learning support during home visits where necessary.
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Experience with in SEND, education, healthcare, care or a similar environment is desirable.
- A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider professional team.
- Willingness to undertake training and develop specialist knowledge.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
