Objective of the Position  In this role, you will provide leadership to the Hardware Engineering team within the Product Development (PD) organization, driving the development of hardware solutions for electronic architectures and advanced PCB platforms, with a strong strategic focus on optical performance. The position ensures effective resource planning, budget management, and adherence to processes to drive successful delivery and continuous improvement.

You will also monitor progress, quality, and costs, while identifying industry trends and defining short‑and mid‑term departmental goals. In parallel, the role remains hands‑on in hardware design, translating customer and product requirements into technical specifications and solutions. This includes designing PCBs and optical solutions, selecting components and materials, maintaining design documentation, and overseeing verification, validation, and testing activities in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Characterization of Activities  Translate the organization’s technology strategy into clear team objectives, policies, and priorities. Monitor industry trends and technological advancements, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Plan and allocate roles, resources, and capabilities to effectively achieve departmental objectives. Establish and maintain robust systems, processes, and procedures to enable efficient execution. Ensure the timely delivery of objectives, milestones, and planning commitments. Strengthen team capabilities through targeted training, coaching, motivation, and effective execution of the HR performance cycle.
Education, Experience and Knowledge   Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or a related field).
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hardware and/or electronics engineering, including minimum 3‑5 years of team leadership experience.
Strong multidisciplinary knowledge of both hardware and software engineering principles.
Familiarity with automotive standards and core tools, including PPAP, DFMEA, APQP, and 8D methodologies is a big plus.
Working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards such as RoHS, REACH, ISO
16750, ISO
26262, and R10.
Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage).
Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development in embedded and automotive electronics.

What We Offer   Salary based on knowledge and experience.
Full‑time employment of 40 hours per week.
8% holiday allowance.
Travel allowance home‑work: 23ct per kilometer one way up to a maximum of 50km.
CAO:
Metalektro HP Retirement: PME (Pensioenfonds Metalektro).
WIA: WIA floor, WGA gap and WGA gap additional insurances in accordance with the stipulated provisions.
PAWW:
Compulsory supplementary insurance when the statutory unemployment WW or WGA benefit expires.
Holiday days: 27 days on an annual basis (full‑time).
ATV: 13 days on an annual basis (full‑time).
