UK accountancy practice experience preferred

We are supporting a well-established accountancy practice to recruit an Accounts & Tax Assistant. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a solid grounding across accounts preparation and tax compliance, with structured support and clear development opportunities.

• Assist with preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Support the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns
• Prepare personal tax returns and help gather information from clients
• Maintain accurate working papers and ensure deadlines are met
• Liaise with clients to request records, resolve queries, and provide a professional service
• Assist with bookkeeping and VAT returns where required (depending on the team and portfolio)
• Support managers with ad hoc tasks and workflow during busy periods

• Some experience in a UK accountancy practice (accounts and/or tax) is beneficial
• AAT studying/qualified, or ATT/ACA/ACCA studying, is welcome (not essential)
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Confident communicator with a professional manner when dealing with clients
• Comfortable using accounting software and Excel (training provided where needed)
